Maya Pourpoutidi
Exploration of 3D sculptures and traditional fine arts to create an innovative CG illustration, 2022
Animation, 1 minute

Picture
The objective of this project is to explore, create, and investigate the creation of a non-rigged and animated clock. It will deceive the viewer into believing that what is presented is not pure fiction and that it could very well exist in the real world if created in physical form. The artefact is a puzzle-like piece that unravels hidden pieces before being reversed to its original state. The creation of the artefact fits the themes of the late Victorian era (1880s), with some decorative elements of German clocks at the time and adheres to basic mechanical engineering principles such as the operation of escapements, pendulums, and train gear systems. Blender is used for modelling and drafting, and Maya is used for animation and expression creation. Texturing was done with Substance.
