Dear Student..., 2021
2D Animation
The animation aims to raise awareness on the negative impact this has on the students who unfortunately, experience this daily. Some of which include lack of motivation, guilt for following their dreams, the thought of debt, constant fear of not securing a high paid job and comparing ourselves to family members our age. More specifically, it will focus on impact within family and the outside world. The thought of employment rates, comments from our families, and the public that influences our mental health.
The initial idea derived from something which is personal to me and my struggles, but also be relatable to a lot of creative students of various ethnic backgrounds. There is a stigma behind migrant parents and their wishes for their children's future. As of the last century, migrants would have to come to western countries for better opportunities financially and socially, but due to their lack of tertiary education would have to work fewer paying jobs and more of them. This increased the incentive towards working in the household. In order to maintain the household, migrant parents encourage their children to strive for higher paying jobs with their access to education.

@chichenwingz
I am a self-taught, freelance digital artist from London. I create 2D digital pieces highlighting the struggles that have an impact on me and the people around me as someone from the BAME community.
Creating and sharing art on my Instagram has allowed me to indirectly express my concerns on issues that I am too afraid to speak about. I think that it gives me freedom and confidence to be able to show the world how I feel about certain problems within the community and to raise awareness on things that should be changed.
