Join multimedia artist Aphra Shemza in her new digital painting and co-creation workshop. The workshop is centred around her shemza.digital project which is a collaboration with computer artist Stuart Batchelor. Shemza.digital is based on the work of Aphra’s grandfather, the well-known British/Pakistani painter Anwar Jalal Shemza.
In the first half of the workshop you will be introduced to the historical context of the project, the three artist’s work and create your own digital paintings and animation using the bespoke shemza.digital painting application.
In the second part of the workshop the students will take part in practical co-creation tasks thinking spatially about how to turn their paintings into an installation for the next stage of the project. This will be a chance for the students to learn about spatial design and the technology required to create an immersive installation. Aphra Shemza will use the ideas generated in the workshop to design an installation which will be toured Nationally next year.
We recommend a good internet connection and a computer or tablet no older than 5 years for the best experience. If you are concerned about your device compatibility please get in touch to test before the workshop by emailing: [email protected]
