A ground-breaking online event researching the art of mystical and transcendental experiences, “that which goes beyond any possible knowledge of human beings.” Immanuel Kant.

“Transcendence” will explore the way that traditional artists have portrayed these experiences, how contemporary media artists are doing it now and how devising the future on this could offer answers to some of the current societal challenges such as the increasing global isolation and disconnection.

This event will invite key media artists, researchers and scientists to present their work exploring the religious, mystical, transcendental, psychedelic and sublime experiences. Intending to reconnect audiences with these “spiritual” practices that are so intrinsic to human existence and have the potential to play a key role in our society’s recovery. Understanding spirituality from the lenses of the father of Western psychology, William James, what we might call ‘connectedness'.

Join us for an evening of existential enquiry, allowing art to be an activator for spiritual reconnection through the exploration of transcendental art experiences that aim to enhance human interconnectedness.

Picture
Maria Almena is a Spanish London-based creative director, art curator and a multimedia artist. Co-founder of the creative studio, Kimatica www.kimatica.net, as well as co-founder of the charitable organisation Art in Flux.

Maria's practice is exploring concepts of human consciousness and perception, making those transcendental ideas accessible to a modern audience, to inspire reconnection with magical thinking and the ethereal world. Fascinated by the juxtaposition of the physical and spiritual, the virtual and real spaces, and the scientific and artistic concepts. She enjoys playing with perception aiming to transport the viewer into new worlds, using experimental technologies as magical tools that help to dramatise the transition between different states of being and highlighting the importance of the journey in itself.

With Kimatica she has been commissioned by British council, Tate Museum, Instagram, Barbican centre, Veuve Clicquot and many Light and Art festivals like Lightwaves, Wilderness and Jerusalem festivals. With Flux she has participated in projects supported by Arts Council England and Computers Arts Society, as well as exhibiting at V&A Museum, Royal College of Art amongst many others.

Transcendence design research launch
Kimatica studio is using this opportunity to launch a research project on how to create a methodology for transcendence design. Drawing on decades worth of expertise, Kimatica seeks to design the next generation of transformational and transcendent experiences that elevate the human experience.

Metaverse Divinations NFTs Drop
Kimatica’s first NFTs have been created after a period of research supported by Arts Council of England, exploring how to translate their multimedia performance into mixed reality experiences that can bridge the limitations that virtual or physical shows have alone.

They have continued with their research on creating relevant contemporary rituals that enhance interconnectedness and inspire introspection, as a response to the increased global isolation. Multiverse divination is a series of augmented reality ritualistic performances.
